Working Student - Robotics Hardware Engineer (20h/week)

We are looking for a passionate Robotics Hardware Engineer (Working Student) to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative autonomous systems for harsh production environments.

This role is ideal for someone pursuing studies in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related fields and who is eager to gain hands-on experience in designing and integrating robotic sensors and electronics into real-world systems.

Key Responsibilites:

Sensor Integration: Work on integrating and optimizing robotic sensors (e.g., LiDAR, Radar, cameras, IMUs) into autonomous systems to ensure accurate data acquisition and processing.

Mechanical Integration: Assist in designing mechanical setups for integrating sensors and compute modules into heavy machinery.

Hardware Development: Support electrical and mechanical engineering tasks focused on manufacturable and scalable hardware designs.

Framework Development: Collaborate on creating frameworks that enable smooth hardware-electronic integration, ensuring efficient communication between actuators, sensors, and control units.

System Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software system compatibility and performance.

Troubleshooting: Help troubleshoot and optimize electronic systems to address issues like EMI, power management, and signal integrity.

Prototyping: Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation phases for hardware components.

PCB Design: Contribute to the design of custom PCBs for robotics and autonomy applications.

Requirements:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Knowledge of deploying electronics hardware in challenging environments, including robust power and data transfer.

Basic experience in designing and integrating robotic sensors with hardware and software.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools for mechanical and electrical integration, with an interest in 3D printing and prototyping.

Exposure to PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or Fusion360.

Understanding of embedded systems and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, I2C, SPI).
